I’m not saying their release schedule is better or shorter than other companies. C1P & DXO have upgraded their software weeks ago to add new body support. I don't own a new body that needs it, & I now mainly use C1P 8.2 & will not be upgrading to LR6.Īlso please don't make excuses for Adobe. There's no reason what so ever for Adobe, which is the largest company of those 3 by a large margin not to have done the same. But it doesn't work like that.Īlso please don't make excuses for Adobe. You would think as long as the editor read ORF files it shoulds read old one s & new one. ORF's and the current E-M5II raw files are still. I agree with your statement but all manufacturers do this. So ask yourself, why is it Adobe and every other raw converter software’s fault THEY have to hack the new format, update their software, test it, upload it etc when it was the camera company that created another unique file format? If I had just bought a recent body like the Olympus E-M5II I would really be ticked off that is taking Adobe this long to update LR.Īnd yet the fact remains that the lack of support here is all the fault of (in this example) Olympus who created yet another proprietary raw file for no reason! The JPEG of course isn’t affected. C1P updated their software a couple of weeks ago to add the support. If I had just bought a recent body like the Olympus E-M5II I would really be ticked off that is taking Adobe this long to update LR. By delaying LR6 and not updating camera support in LR5 Adobe hope to push people to CC. Just saw another "rumor" that Lightroom 6 will be launched in Sept 2015 - would be really nice for Adobe to provide consistent camera support across this "family" for Photoshop products. So unless I want to do a hack on the NEF files, or use some really slow Nikon software, I can not open the NEF files on my D7200 yet in any of my Adobe products. Understand that the RAW processor in PS is different than LR and PSE, but there has been an update to Camera Raw for PS, but nothing for Lightroom or PSE. Both are current with respect to updates. I have Lightroom 5.7 and Photoshop Elements 13.
